A genealogy link for Col. Thomas Wade. He often served on the Grand Jury for the Quarterly Courts in Ipswich. Thomas was the son of Jonathan Wade. Upon his death Thomas was made the administrator of his estate along with his brother Nathaniel, but Jonathan did not have a signed will. The oldest brother, Jonathan Jr., contested this decision, believing it was his right to be the sole administrator being the eldest child, and many court appearances and petitions followed where each side submitted "Wills" written by their father that contradicted each other. The case was brought to Boston on Oct. 17, 1684. It was finally settled that a draft of a will written in 1669 was approved, which gave the 3 brothers equal thirds of their father's property, except for Jonathan Jr., who had already been given his share before his father's death. 35 Copyright © 2001 - 2005, Jenn Marcelais. a Soul Oyster Web Studios production.
