Robert Smith, born 1611 in Devon County (?) England. Arrived with John Wheelright to found Exeter New Hampshire around 1620. Moved to Hampton at an unknown date. Had six children with wife Susanna (who died of a lightning strike in 1680): John 1639- , Jonathan 1640- , Ashel 1643-, Joseph 1653-1717, Meribah (birth and death dates unknown), Isreal (birth date unknown)-1676. Both Robert and Susanna's stones are in Pine Grove.
