Simeon's other wife, also named Anna Lowell, rests in Union Cemetery. Simeon Lowell opened a boat building shop in 1793 on Salisbury Point. It continues to operate today as the oldest boat building shop in the nation. Lowell's Boat Shop Trust is now a nonprofit organization dedicated to educating the public about a traditional American craft by preserving America’s oldest boatbuilding activity in its original workshop, the birthplace of the fisherman’s dory. History has it that Simeon Lowell invented, if not perfected the fisherman's dory. Copyright © 2001 - 2005, Jenn Marcelais. a Soul Oyster Web Studios production.
