Ipswich Quarterly Court, March 1686: Richd. Hubberd of Salisbury v. Benja. Allen. For withholding money due him for one-eight part of 34 li. which plaintiff laid out in money at Boston in 1684 at the desire of the owners of the ketch Salisbury, of which said Allen was an owner of an eight part. Nonsuited.
Other owners mentioned are Thomas Mudget, Nathaniel Clark, Jonathan Allen, widow Mary Osgood, Mrs. Wheeler and Jocob Morrill. Richard Hubbard was employed to buy cable, rigging and other provisions for the use of the ketch. 35

"Cornet" is not his first name but a title. Definition from Dictionary.com states: (Mil.) (a) A troop of cavalry; -- so called from its being accompanied by a cornet player. [Obs.] ``A body of five cornets of horse.'' --Clarendon. (b) The standard of such a troop. [Obs.] (c) The lowest grade of commissioned officer in a British cavalry troop, who carried the standard. The office was abolished in 1871.
