Eleazer Russell Esquire
Naval officer for the Port of Portsmouth under
the Government of Great Britain which office
retained under the Government of New Hampshire
Collector of Impost for the State of
New Hampshire and Naval officer under the
United States from the commencement of the
Federal Government till his death. He was
distinguished for his benevolence, probity
and the faithfull execution of the several trusts
which were reposed in (???)

"Margaret Waldron, the eldest daughter, married Eleazer Russell, Esq., of Portsmouth, ..." 6

"Eleazer Russell, mentioned in the 47th Ramble, died at the time of this fever but not of it. He was said to be so much in fear of the fever of which his sister died, that he refuesed to have any one come to his assistance, and died alone." 6

He was appointed Joint Sheriff of the Province along with Jonathan Belcher, and in 1745 one of the first Representatives of Portsmouth to the Assembly. 10
