At the Salem Quarterly Court on April 24, 1684, James Allen (then of Boston), brought a complaint against Francis Nurse of Salem for six years rent on his farm. Francis Nurse, a yeoman, had sold his farm to James Allen for "400 li., to be paid, with yearly rental, before May 1, 1699." Francis Nurse had only made a few partial payments. 35
